Scared to Sleep

Its now 12:43 Am EST, 25hours now since I have been up. I feel Like sleeping but for some reason I don't want to. Each time I close my eye guilt overcomes me. Is this for real! I ask myself. I feel guilty to sleeping knowing there is so much to be done, knowing that some many is suffering and unable to lay there head on a pillow like mine. I know this because I lived it before and it is Oh so real.

Finding balance these days have never been so difficult, knowing when to say enough is becoming foreign. But to say such a thing is unlike me. A matter a fact it is so risible. Me of all person, I laugh at myself. Now that I think about it I have always been this way so why am I conscious about it now? Am I scared? I don't feel that way it is more like a feeling of dualism. You know that feeling where you feel scared and impatient at the same time? yeah that's the feeling. But patience is a virtue I have been told I have a lot of but these days I get so impatient I can't sleep. Ah there it is that is the reason I cannot sleep now that I know this I will get some ZZZZZ...

HOPE FOR A FADING PEOPLE

There is a day in history, a land filled with people of pride, grace, and oneness knew neither rich or poor, young or old, JLP or PNP they knew only that on that day with explosions of patriotism on August 6th, 1962 they where 'JAMAICANS.' The voice of the people was in chorus with the declaration of independence; a harmonization that made land and people one. We were no longer an exploited colony of the British Empire, will no longer sway in the tide of the crown but as a new people as 'Jamaicans,' would be a prosperous nation.

We were a proud people and one that had the destiny to become the pearl of the Caribbean. To make known their presences in the Caribbean and the world. With a population of about 1.4 million, Jamaicans had the potential to propel Jamaica to self dependency and to pave a path for our current and future generations.

A Jamaica where politicians goes to jail, where we plot our own course, where the poor are provided the means for self determination and where unity and oneness reign supreme. Where children grow up as children, where men are men, where women are equals and where one love is abundant. With only a population of approximately 3 million our forefathers have failed us and we continue to fail ourselves even today.

We have allowed the divide of politics, classism, and the big brother syndrome to cripple us, retarding growth. We kill each other for petty reasons without consuming the flesh and no reason at all. We see the need to listen to a foreign voice as opposed to those of our very own people. We appoint and accept foolish leaders to act as guides and such nonsense politics they have spout. We have fallen so far from our former selves and stand so far from what we should become. Our people have loss all hope of a better tomorrow and flee to foreign nations in the thousands; how embarrassing.

We were the uniting voice in the Caribbean, a nation of many greats, a nation of innovators, of go getter's, of do it yourselves and not a basket case to neither neighbor, family, friend or stranger. We were Jamaicans.

My people have stop believing in themselves and appear to have loss hope, it appears hope died with Norman Manley or Bustamante. While their works can never be discredited and praise of gratefulness must always be song in their honor, we must move on, restart our growth, pick up where they left off because I am Jamaica, we are Jamaica. I say to you my people say with me "I am Jamaica, I am the future of Jamaica. I come and will claim my place, playing my part in the growth and development of my country, I take ownership for the failure of all my people, standing with my people I will make my country live again. I will show my people how to love one another, we will unity, we will prosper, we will feed our fellow citizens when hungry, cloth them when naked, carry them when they fall and teach them to fish as we toil together because; WE ARE JAMAICA."
